Lottery Grants
The Lottery Health Research committee funds research projects that will improve the health status of New Zealanders. It distributes grants to fund:
- research into the cause, prevention and treatment of disorders affecting the health of New Zealanders
- research that will lead to advances in health and bio-medical science for the ultimate benefit of all New Zealanders
- the development, maintenance and retention of a highly skilled workforce of health and bio-medical researchers in New Zealand.

Te Kaupapa Matauranga Maori Mo Te Iwi Maori - Maori Education Trust
The Maori Education Trust is financed from private bequests and trusts set up from individuals or businesses. A primary function of the Trust is to provide and administer scholarships in education for Maori students. In addition to MET funded awards, the trust is also contracted to administer scholarships on behalf of the Ministry of Education and other agencies.

The Maurice & Phyllis Paykel Trust
The Maurice & Phyllis Paykel Trust provide Project Grants and Equipment Grants to support of health-related research projects, travel grants to assist with the costs of travel by research workers in health-related fields, and the Trust also provides funds for the support of selected trainees based in some health science faculties in New Zealand, through an arrangement with the institutions concerned.
